Education Uncubed is a three-day conference that brings together higher educators, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and hiring employers to best prepare students and alumni for success in the digital economy at startups, innovative companies, and in their own entrepreneurial endeavors.
It is an opportunity for university staff to:
- Learn from - and work directly with - employers to identify needs on both sides, strengthen recruiting efforts, and develop university programming
- Further empower their students and alumni to pursue startup and entrepreneurial careers using university resources and programs
- Meet, work, and develop new best practices with peers from other universities that will better prepare students and alumni for the next generation of work

Deep Dive into Digital Economy Careers
Venue
Rise New York
24 W 24th Street
2nd Floor
New York, NY, 10010
How do you - and how does your school - define phrases like "new economy," "digital economy," "future of work," "startup," and "entrepreneurship"? Unfortunately, the variability of these definitions when identifying tomorrow's careers impacts goals, stakeholders, actions taken, and outcomes. This in turn costs your school time, money, efficiency, and success. It also confuses staff and students as to where to turn for resources.
In this session, we'll brainstorm, opine, and debate what these phrases mean to help bring everyone closer to being on the same page.

... if we're currently at the forefront of startup & entrepreneurial career development?
Because even the best realize there is always room for growth and improvement. Because the innovation that fuels startups and entrepreneurship - by its very nature - is continuously changing. And as such, so too are the startups and entrepreneurs that are fueling this innovation. Because enterprising students will always seek out and discover "what's next" - with or without their university. And they'll need the ever-evolving resources to produce the solutions to life's problems (especially those that the rest of us don't yet realize are problems), or even to work for the companies doing this.
... if we're keeping up with other schools?
Because it's possible that small changes to what you're already doing could produce exponentially greater results. Because there are always new ideas to learn from your peers and the innovators themselves about what's next - both for students' and alumni's career development, as well as for employment altogether. Because you and your school deserve access to the best and latest resources, ideas, and employers.
... if we know we're behind, but we're making progress?
To accelerate this progress. To take the momentum your school already has and most effectively steer it toward where you and your school want - and ultimately need - to be. You'll build new and stronger relationships with employers, entrepreneurs, and other universities, plus receive actionable advice for next steps that you and your school can take to foster a larger community of students well-equipped for careers at the next generation of companies.
... if we're far, far behind other schools for startup & entrepreneurial career development?
Because you're never TOO far behind that you can't catch up. Innovation is like an escalator: you missed a step? Not a problem. Just hop on the next one as it comes around; you'll still arrive at the floor above. Many of the programs and solutions we'll explore are available through resources already available to your university; it might just require a conversation between departments, the reallocation of some space on campus, the tweaking of a staff member's responsibilities, the involvement of alumni, or simply meeting new companies. Even the smallest changes on campus can produce drastic results among student engagement, employment, and innovation.
Most conference action will take place below 34th Street in Manhattan (New York City). Days 1 and 3 will primarily be held at Rise New York (43 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010). Day 2 will be held at Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, New York, NY 10011).
